Research Summary

Dr. Richard Fujimoto is the interim director of the Institute for Data and High Performance Computing. He is also a Regents' Professor and the founding Chair of the School of Computational Science and Engineering at Georgia Tech. He received the Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley in 1983 and 1980, respectively in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, and two B.S. degrees from the University of Illinois, Urbana in 1977 and 1978 in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. He has been an active researcher in the parallel and distributed simulation community since 1985, and has published numerous technical papers on this subject. He led the definition of the time management services for the High Level Architecture (HLA) for modeling and simulation in the U.S. Department of Defense that has since been standardized by IEEE.
